Breastfeeding Basics: Making Breastfeeding Easier

1-day Training Course

$FREE (via a contract with the Oklahoma State Department of Health)

Agenda

This class teaches health care staff current information and skills to support breastfeeding mothers and their children, particularly during the prenatal and early postpartum periods. The class utilizes various modes of learning, including hands on activities, videos, small group work, equipment demonstration, etc. Class participants will be evaluated for basic breastfeeding competencies and receive 7.5 nursing contact hours. This class is appropriate for hospital and clinic staff as well as providers in community settings (e.g. doulas, peer counselors). Click here to learn how these CNEs can be converted into LCERPs.

Breastfeeding Basics & Beyond

2-day Training Course

This class teaches health care staff current information and skills to support breastfeeding mothers and their children, during the prenatal, early postpartum periods and beyond, including topics such as milk production, dads/partners and the workplace.  This class utilizes various modes of learning, including pre and post self-assessments, hands-on activities, videos, small group work, equipment demonstration, etc. Class participants will be evaluated for basic breastfeeding competencies and receive 11.8 nursing contact hours. This class is appropriate for hospital and clinic staff as well as home visiting staff and other providers in community settings (e.g. doulas, peer counselors).
